Ocean Shores, WA, has always been a special place for us as a family. We would travel the Washington Coast 3-4 times a year, and every visit included a trip to the candy store, Buddy and Howie's. During Covid, the previous owners closed the business, breaking our hearts. I kept messaging asking for a reopening date, and they kept saying, not yet. One day I saw a post on Facebook that they decided to sell Buddy and Howie's. I was devastated at the thought of them not reopening.

When Buddy and Howie's was listed for sale, we were in the process of trying to buy a new truck for me. When I saw the post, I looked at my husband and said, want to buy a candy store instead of a new truck? At first, he looked at me like I was crazy. But I felt like it was meant to be. Buddy and Howie's Old Fashioned Sweet Shop is named after teddy bears. I have collected teddy bears since my early teens, and I really love my teddy bears. I couldn't help but think this is a sign that this is what we need to do.

So, we made a decision that changed everything. We decided it was important to keep Buddy and Howie's alive so we could help carry on wonderful family traditions on the Washington Coast, not only for us but for all the families out there visiting and living in Ocean Shores. And, of course, the teddy bears sealed the deal.

Fast forward to June 2022, we reopened Buddy and Howie's for all of us to enjoy, for the families like ours whose trip to Ocean Shores wasn't complete without a quick stop by the best candy shop on the Washington Coast. We want to ensure this tradition sticks around for generations.
